Independence Day

The 4th of July this year was best I've had in a long time.
I didn't really see any fireworks but we spent a lot of time with family. Since moving to Cedar City we haven't be able to spend much time with Daniel's side of the family. Festivities started out with a 2 hour parade. I was really impressed with the floats. Plus, instead of throwing candy multiple floats handed out otter pops. I was one happy girl. Lincoln slept right through the whole thing except for the brief time he screamed because he was nailed in the face with a piece of taffy.
After the parade Daniel had to go help with a friends sprinkler system and I went to Murray to see Megan Woodland! I haven't see her in months! After moving out of Rexburg I rarely get to see my friends so it was a real treat to be able to spend time with her. To end the day we decided to take a hike up Farmington canyon to a water fall. This was Lincoln's first hike and he did great! When we got to the top Lincoln needed a diaper change. It ended up being a 3 person job and quite comical. It was over 100 degrees that day so we thought we would dip Lincoln's feet in the cold water to cool off a bit. In my mind I thought he would love it because he loves bath time so much. Well, jokes on me because the second his feet hit the water he started screaming. A few off us actually got in the water and went under the waterfall. Since finding out I was pregnant almost a year ago I've felt like I haven't been able to be adventurous at all, which was kind of a hard thing to deal with but this weekend made me feel like I was finally myself again. I know things never go back to normal once you have a baby but I think I have finally found the closest thing to normal I am going to find.

The next day was really relaxing and I won't bore you with all the details except that night we had a double elimination ping-pong tournament. I never knew ping-pong could be such a competitive thing until I joined the Welch family. It makes me sad to say that I was the very first person out of the tournament and I am proud to say Daniel won the whole thing.
