I am blessed

have you ever looked around at your life and thought to yourself "how can I be THIS blessed?"

Today after church I had that moment and I just wanted to cry because the Lord has blessed me and my family so much over the last couple weeks. I don't know what we did for Him to send such an abundance of blessings our way but I sure am grateful.

But let me start from the beginning. 

If you remember about a year ago Daniel and I moved into my parents basement literally the day before I was put on bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy with Lincoln. Daniel had just got a job at the local hospital working nights and on a floor that he kind of hated. 

Over the past year we stayed in my parents basement which turned out to be a bigger blessing than I thought at the time. We were able to pay off almost all of our medical bills from Lincoln's birth (which was A LOT), put a bunch of money into savings, and I learned how to be a mother with help from my mother. It was really great. 

Well there comes a time when you just can't live in your parents basement anymore because you have to go upstairs to use the bathroom, you don't have your own kitchen, and your entire life is packed away in boxes that you desperately want to unpack. While this is going on Daniel had been filling out job applications like a mad man so he could get a job off of med/surg and during the day. After about 20 applications and lots and lots of job interviews nothing seemed to be happening. We had pretty much accepted the idea that he was ever going to work during the day and until he graduated as a Nurse Practitioner he was going to be stuck in a job he hated. Well Heavenly Father knows exactly when you need him to pick you up because Daniel got a job on an application he had turned in 3 months earlier. After a flawless interview Daniel was offered a job in same day surgery (his dream job) right on the spot. We were so grateful that Daniel hadn't gotten any of the previous jobs he had interviewed for because nothing would measure up to the job he was offered. Well we thought things couldn't get any better...but guess what? they did. 

 So Daniel and I started to look for potential places to live. Ideally we wanted a three bedroom town home or twin home with a small bit of grass for Lincoln to play on. A house would have been dreamy but we wanted to be realistic. Well as I was perusing craigslist I saw a house that seemed too good to be true. Seriously. A three bedroom two bathroom house with a two car garage and a huge yard AND in our price range. Well after going and looking and lots of prayers we learned that we got the house!   

The last year has been hard on Daniel and I. Working nights with a new baby and not having a place of your own is hard. It's been good for us but it's been hard and now I can see all that Heavenly Father had in store or us and I'm so glad we had the patience to make it through. 

All I have to say is the Lord has a plan for us and no matter how great we think our plan is he has something so much better in store for us. I lose sight of this often and I forget how blessed I am. Maybe one day I will remember this but for now I'll take my little moments when I get to look at my perfect little family, my growing belly, and all of the beautiful things my Heavenly Father has given me and remember just that. Heavenly Father has given me so much and I am blessed.
