A few weeks ago I had a day with Lincoln and Savannah that I was at my wits end. They both decided to boycott naps and were just naughty. Especially Lincoln. I had no idea what to do. We were stuck inside because of the weather so I couldn't even let him play outside. I was seriously about to loose it when I remembered something I saw on pinterest about finger painting that wasn't messy (a one year old and finger paint inside does no sound like fun to me). I didn't have any paint though. So I turned to pinterst again and found a recipe. It seriously saved the day! The day turned around after I hung the paint on the window. It kept both babies happy and gave me a minute to regroup and get it together. Savannah loved watching Lincoln and Lincoln loved squishing it. Although there are some days I think I'm not going to make it as a mom something like finger paints seems to change my attitude and reminds me how much fun being a mom really is.
Here is the finger paint recipe:
You will need
- 2 cups of flour
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 4 1/2 cups of water
- a pot & whisk
- coloring of choice (the ones I used are these neon gel colors)
Once you start to feel that the mixture is thickening dial down the heat to low and continue to stir with the whisk until you get the right consistency for your homemade finger paint.
This kind of reminds me of a porridge.
Add 2 drops of coloring and mix. Add more if you want deeper colors. Stir well.
