Two toddlers and 18 hours

I feel like I'm always writing posts about trips to Washington. For a last hoorah of summer we road tripped to Washington to see Ashleigh and her family. Here's the thing, being in Washington was so much fun, but the trip there and back is another story. Because we drove and my parents rode with us the trip was really cheap, but we spent 18 hours in the car with two toddlers and that is something I would pay a million dollars to avoid ever doing again. Anyway, lets move on. Washington in late summer is so perfect. It's still warm from summer not wanting to let go but there's also a crispness in the air from Fall trying to take over. We spent our time chasing the chickens, going to the zoo and beach, and spending time with family. Arianna and Lincoln once again showed their love to each other by being mean to each other and Sav just wanted to keep up with the two older kids. It's always fun to see the kids interact with each other. One of my bucket list items for this summer was to take Lincoln and Sav to the zoo. Being able to do it with almost my whole family was totally a bonus. Lincoln thought everything was so great. He still talks about the elephants and alligators. Savannah just called everything a dog, that might be because it's the only animal sign she knows but it was really cute either way. Of course we had to go to the beach too. Lincoln takes after his mama with his love for the beach. He was in his element running through the sand and playing in the water. He was even able to help my dad catch one of his fish. He told me catching a fish with Opa was his favorite part of the trip. Sav hated the water but loved eating the sand. She must get the sand eating trait from Daniel's side of the family. She had a blast playing in the sand. Daniel was able to go surf fishing for perch while we were at the beach. He limited out after about 2 hours and if you ask me it's because of my superb skills of cheering him on. Every 5 minutes either Daniel, my dad, or Jon were bringing another fish up to us. Although riding in the car was miserable with Lincoln and Sav we had so much fun saying goodbye to summer.
